Kaelor Works BNVD-1431 NNVT Gen 3 White Phosphor Binocular - FOM 1600
Last one available
The Kaelor Works BNVD-1431 is an analogue night vision binocular configured with NNVT Gen 3 white phosphor image intensifier tubes, a FOM 1600 specification and Norinco objective and eyepiece optics. Manual gain adjustment and interpupillary-distance stops let you set the image and viewing position to suit you.
Gen 3 GaAs photocathode technology
The fitted NNVT Gen 3 image intensifiers use gallium arsenide (GaAs) photocathodes. This is a different photocathode technology from the multialkali designs commonly associated with Gen 2 and Gen 2+ tubes. The photocathode converts incoming light into electrons before amplification in the microchannel plate.
Gen 3 describes the tube technology; green or white phosphor describes the colour of the output screen. Similar FOM values do not make Gen 2+ and Gen 3 tubes technologically identical: FOM combines resolution and signal-to-noise ratio, but does not describe photocathode material or full spectral response. Actual image performance also depends on the individual tube specifications, optics and lighting conditions.
Configuration at a glance
- Tubes: NNVT Gen 3 white phosphor, FOM 1600 specification.
- Optics: Norinco objective and eyepiece assemblies.
- Power: AA battery operation, with an external battery box supplied.
- Measured device weight: approximately 610 g with image intensifier tubes, battery, eyecups and objective caps fitted.
Features
- Manual image gain adjustment.
- Adjustable interpupillary distance (IPD) with stops.
- User-selectable automatic power-off when flipped up.
- Built-in infrared illuminator for additional illumination when needed.
- Low-battery warning.
- Suitable for handheld use or use with a compatible helmet mounting setup.
Controls and operation
- IR illumination: Press twice to switch the built-in IR illuminator on or off.
- Flip-up automatic power-off: Press five times to enable or disable this function.
When flip-up automatic power-off is disabled, flipping the binocular up will not automatically turn it off.
Included with this configuration
- Kaelor Works BNVD-1431 binocular with the stated NNVT Gen 3 white phosphor tubes and Norinco optics.
- Carrying bag with the camouflage detail shown in the photographs.
- Helmet mount shown in the accessory photograph.
- External battery box and connecting cable shown.
- Image intensifier tube specification sheets.
- Eyecups and objective caps shown.
A helmet is not included. The 610 g measurement is for the configured binocular, not the full accessory kit or packed shipping weight.
Tube data sheets and individual variation
The specification sheets shown in the gallery are reference examples for the photographed unit. Individual image intensifier tubes naturally vary, including resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, gain, sensitivity and cosmetic characteristics. Small differences can also occur between the left and right tubes. Not every device will reproduce the exact readings on the photographed sheets; refer to the sheets supplied with your device for its individual tube measurements. These normal variations do not change the configuration stated in this listing.
Through-tube photographs are also for reference. Camera exposure, white balance and the viewing environment can change recorded colour and brightness compared with direct viewing.
