Polymer BNVD-1431 / PVS-31-Style Articulating Bridge Unit

A lightweight aftermarket centre bridge for compatible articulating binocular night-vision builds. It provides central power and control, independent left and right pod articulation, selectable automatic shutoff functions and built-in infrared illumination for compatible pod assemblies.

A 4-pin Fischer port provides an external power connection for compatible battery packs. When a compatible external pack is connected, the bridge can operate solely from that pack, so no CR123A battery needs to be installed in the internal battery compartment.

Bridge assembly only. This is not a complete binocular housing or a complete night-vision device. Pods, image intensifier tubes, objective lenses, eyepieces and a helmet mount are not included.

Automatic shutoff functions

Individual pod shutoff: when either pod is articulated outward, that pod switches off while the opposite pod can remain operational. This function can be enabled or disabled.

Past-vertical shutoff: when the complete binocular assembly is flipped upward beyond the vertical position on a helmet mount, the system switches off automatically. This function can also be enabled or disabled.

This bridge does not include a two-minute idle shutoff function.

Primary application

• Compatible BNVD-1431 pod interfaces.

Compatibility can depend on pod revision, internal wiring and connector configuration. Customers should confirm their exact components before ordering. The description does not claim universal compatibility with every original PVS-31 configuration.

Additional conversion application

Two compatible Yaksa monocular housings may be reused as left and right pod assemblies, allowing suitable Yaksa housings, optics and MX-10160 tubes to form an articulating binocular configuration. This is a secondary compatibility benefit and remains dependent on housing revision and connector configuration.

Tube and gain compatibility

• Intended for two-contact MX-10160-format image intensifier tubes.
• Fixed regulated tube supply voltage: 2.8V.
• No manual gain control.
• Not designed as a standard MX-11769 manual-gain wiring solution.
• Automatic brightness control, where available, is provided by a compatible intensifier tube and is not bridge-based manual gain.

Installation

Assembly requires compatible pod housings, two-contact MX-10160 tubes and suitable optics. Professional assembly, electrical testing, sealing, collimation and optical alignment are recommended.

The IP67 rating applies to the bridge assembly as specified by the manufacturer. It does not guarantee the ingress protection of a customer-assembled system. Final protection depends on correct installation, seals and compatible pod components.
